The setting is rustic, natural and beautiful, around 42 acres of English woodland. You will be taken on a guided walk into the woods, where you will explore some of the woodland trails with a hawk or an owl on your glove (if you feel confident to do so). The flight of these birds will take place in the wood and your guide will explain the history and techniques of falconry. You will have your photo taken with the bird as a souvenir of your visit.

If you are lucky, you may see some of the woodland residents such as fallow deer, muntjac, foxes and badgers and the scenery will reflect the seasons typical of the English countryside. In the early summer there is an abundance of bluebells, thick green leaves in the height of the summer, in the Autumn, a mass of colour with the autumn leaves and the charm of the bare branches in winter. This is a place where the wildlife is looked after and all money raised goes back into the care and conservation of nature.

Depending on the time of your falconry experience, it will be coupled with lunch, a full traditional afternoon tea or dinner at Barnsdale Lodge, a country-chic boutique hotel in a 1760 farmhouse. Here you will enjoy the beautiful rolling English countryside of the Rutland landscape, as the hotel is encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water.
